I had to find out what this car could do after downloading a tune and changing the limiter to 190- I have a very lonely stretch of highway that I go up to one exit turn around and go back down then do it again to check for any speed checking cars- found none so get on highway foot to the floor was a nasty cross wind but I had to do it- In a mile maybe mile and a half? i was mainly focusing on the road,, the car got to its speedo max i am not sure where the tach was but the car was still pulling very good when I took my foot off the gas- It will go faster but I was very satisfied and just a tad nervous at the end- The car was very stable, and as we all know the brakes suck at such speeds(future mod for sure)so there it is if anybody cares? lol I suspect 165 wont be out of reach-oh and yes I have upgraded the tires with a higher speed rating!

If you have the NAV package, you can see the recorded MAX speed in there.

EDIT: Go to the map, tap on the bottom right corner that usually displays your speed when you don't have a destination set, and you should find the MAX speed if you scroll down a little.

Be careful. Be sure your tires are rated for the speed you want to go.

tire speed rating is for sustained driving at that speed, not a short burst....if you have T speed rated tires, they won't blow up if you exceed 118mph for a few minutes

IIRC the cop-cars are non limited, and the Michigan State Police his ~152 in their top speed test

Agreed

Yes speed ratings are for sustained speeds, as I dont think doing 160 with a V-rated(149) tire for 30 seconds is overly dangerous!? My car clearly shot by 152, so the State police cars should be able to as well-except State Police in my state are not suppose to exceed 115mph, like they really follow the rules?
Most of my car efforts are geared towards 0-100(120)quickness as are most guys, I just wanted to know what the car could do, when ever I do mention fast speeds most people come out of the woodwork to give their safety concerns which is fine, but for some reason I have little fear of the big numbers, been driving for over 30 years and I love cars just as much as I did when I was 16! just sayin----
Thanks for your input.

when tires exceed their speed limit rating, their surface traction turns to zip due to not being able to grip any longer. It's like ice skating at 160mph.. for 30 seconds, that's a lifetime at that speed lol

I got up to 160mph very briefly on my Contiprocontact All seasons and it felt like it was on air by that point. On some Z rated tires it was glued to the pavement. Made a huge difference. The Hemi's have a lot of top end potential, as much as it can for a flying brick lol

I for one like hearing other people's stories. I want to know what the car I paid alot of money for is capable of doing since I'm too chicken shit to mess up my own daily driver.

Every since seeing this video: 2011 Ford Mustang V6 Driveshaft Fails At 135mph - YouTube, I'm nervous to push the top speed too much. I think stock limiter on a V6 stang is 112.

Stoopid drivers kill too. Speeding safely is more dangerous, but its fun sometimes.

IIRC police crown vics had this problem and were electronically limited to 125. it has to do with the driveshaft rotational speed and length.

that's why I like the design of the charger, with the deep first gear tranny (3.59:1 1st in the NAG1), short OD (0.83 in the NAG1) and tall rear gear (2.65:1 for the R/T)--it keeps driveshaft speed down.

you could get the same overall first and OD ratios with a 3.47 rear and a 2.74 1st (1st gear ratio of a 42RE) and a 0.63OD (42RE is actually .69), but driveshaft would be spinning 1.3x faster to maintain the same highway speed.

I'm looking to get into the low 13s with my sixxer. :)

My top speed in my Stage 2 WRX was 171mph, but then the hood was vibrating violently and I was afraid it was gonna fly off! The cobb springs kept the car going smooth and straight with no worries about handling. It got up to 150 with ease, then started to run out of breath. The data was verified using my cobb accessport's speedometer feature.

Would I do it again? Nope. Just a one time thrill!

I satisfied my need for top speed when I had a sport bike. Nothing beats the performance of a sportbike for the cost. I no longer own a sportbike. Not sure if I ever will again. I believe the top speed on the 2013 Hemi Chargers is limited to 130mph.

I did 164 in my Saab 9-5 aero with stage 3...hit the brakes at about 150 as I was slowing down...Car merged on the freeway and did not see me coming.

$1000 for new rotors/pads/labor... I'll never do it again!

Should have never gotten rid of that car...was fun eating the mustangs with my wagon...
